I picked up Adam's email this morning with it's two attachments.. one being a very detailed INF history of Naturism with a couple of ancillary articles and the other is an article from The Brit H&E; both are worthy of a read if you haven't already done so. I was interested to see that attempts you organise get togethers in the past had met with poor response, for myself I would have tried to support these if I had known about them. The idea of a get together has crossed my mind in recent days, partly because of the stunning weather of the last two days. However, I recognise that, with the current Covid situation any organsed meet up would probably be illegal and certainly not show us in a good light (ie bad publicity). Nevertheless, now that the weather is improving and we can see light at the end of the tunnel Covidwise, perhaps we could use this site as a point of contact for informal opportunities. Adam has put a lot of time and effort into this website, it is up to us, the members, to activate it... I have visited the site often over the winter and have been disappointed at the lack of interaction. I hope that's because the winter months preclude much naturist experience. I would note that our climate here is such that hardly a month goes by that I do not get at least a few hours on the roof sunbathing, or as I call it, topping up my Vitamin D! On that point, there is growing evidence that healthy levels of Vitamin D improve our immune system and go a long way to help fight diseases like Covid-19 and it's variants. I'm not suggesting that nude sunbathing should replace vaccination, but an all over tan can only help to improve our immunity. Why all over? Well, it is obvious that the greater area of skin exposure the better the production of Vit D. with the addef advantage that, as UV strengths increase we have built up our natural defenses against skin trauma of damage.
I've already been for my first dip of the year at San Blas... the sea was not as cold as I thought it would be. Would this forum be a good place to let other members know where and when we are going to 'go down to the sea again...'? Let's help Adam with MNA as the weather improves. Rich, Qala
Thumbs up and full respect to Adam, he works so hard for our cause, let's all show him the deserved appreciation!!
Thanks a lot Richard for your support. As you rightly said the website can be used 'as a point of contact for informal opportunities'. I suggest we wait up to May before considering the organisation of a skinny dip together. Interaction will always remain a problem and will present the biggest challenge to group together. People are too much busy with their lives. As you probably know , people operate mostly on their self interest. To go beyond self-interest and recognise the need to collaborate with other people you are not familiar with , definitely takes a lot of effort. It is not easy ! I am speaking from my 40+ experience.
I still check by now and again...
